STATEMENT OF NEED
Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is a chronic and emerging disease characterized by inflammation of the esophagus. Although not as common as some other gastrointestinal conditions, the prevalence of EoE has been steadily increasing. It is a condition that significantly affects patients' quality of life due to symptoms such as dysphagia, food impaction, and reflux-like symptoms. Diagnosing and managing EoE is challenging and often involves a multidisciplinary approach, including allergists and gastroenterologists.
Currently, there is a lack of widespread awareness and standardized diagnostic and treatment approaches for EoE, leading to delays in diagnosis and treatment initiation. This underscores a critical need to educate healthcare providers about the latest diagnostic tools, therapeutic options, and ongoing research in the field of EoE. By enhancing the knowledge and skills of healthcare professionals in diagnosing and managing EoE, we can improve the care and outcomes of individuals living with this condition.
This educational program aims to bridge the gap in EoE awareness, diagnosis, and management by providing clinicians with comprehensive insights and practical guidance to better identify, treat, and support patients with EoE, ultimately enhancing their overall well-being and prognosis.
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, learners should be able to demonstrate the ability to:
