Raising the Standard for Myasthenia Gravis Care

Release Date: April 28, 2025

Expiration Date:  April 28, 2026

STATEMENT OF NEED

Generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG) presents with complex diagnostic and therapeutic challenges due to its heterogeneous presentation, risk of rapid progression, and evolving treatment landscape. Delayed diagnosis, underrecognition of refractory disease, and inconsistent use of new targeted therapies contribute to ongoing patient morbidity. While novel agents such as complement and FcRn inhibitors offer more precise and tolerable options compared to traditional immunosuppressants, their integration into practice remains limited due to outdated guidelines and clinical uncertainty. This curriculum addresses these gaps by equipping clinicians with the knowledge and tools to identify high-risk patients early, evaluate and apply emerging therapies, and implement individualized treatment strategies through a structured, case-based, and peer-driven learning model.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

  1. IDENTIFY patients at risk for severe or recalcitrant Myasthenia Gravis
  2. APPRAISE safety and efficacy data for new and emerging treatment options for Myasthenia Gravis
  3. EVALUATE patient response to standard treatment to develop individualized care plans
  4. DIFFERENTIATE patients who would benefit from more targeted therapies at early stages or after developing refractory disease
