Welcome to this curriculum on the diagnosis and management of gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP-NETs). This program is designed to provide you with the latest strategies for accurately diagnosing, staging, and treating GEP-NETs by integrating pathological grading with advanced imaging and novel systemic therapies. This activity emphasizes a collaborative approach, encouraging multidisciplinary care coordination to personalize treatment plans and optimize outcomes for patients with this complex disease.

Itinerary

Part 1

Baseline Assessment

Please answer these questions to assess your knowledge and decision‑making in identifying, diagnosing, and managing GEP‑NETs across imaging, pathology, surgery, systemic therapies, and team‑based care.

Module 1 - The Modern Landscape of Gastroenteropancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors (GEP-NETs)

This program discusses the rising incidence and modern classification of GEP-NETs. It covers the clinical importance of grading, differentiation, and functionality in guiding diagnosis and establishing prognosis to improve patient outcomes.

Module 2 - Diagnostic Strategies for NETs

From suspicion to staging: choose the right hormone tests, avoid low-specificity screening, combine CT/MRI with SSTR-PET, and confirm differentiation and grade on biopsy so the MDT can map an evidence-based plan (including theranostics when appropriate).

Module 3 - Comprehensive Management of Advanced GEP-NETs

This module details the management of advanced GEP-NETs, focusing on treatment sequencing. It covers surgery, liver-directed therapies, and systemic agents, integrating pivotal clinical trial data (NETTER-2, CABINET) to guide evidence-based, personalized care.

Module 4 - Ongoing Management, Quality of Life, and Follow-Up

Master the marathon of NET care. This module covers long-term patient management, proactive strategies for treatment side effects, quality of life optimization, and the essential role of the multidisciplinary team in survivorship.

Final Assessment

Please answer these questions to assess knowledge and competence gained in GEP‑NET diagnosis, treatment selection, sequencing, trial evidence, and integration of novel therapies in multidisciplinary care.

Live Group Discussion 1

Apply modern diagnostics for GEP-NETs. This session focuses on integrating pathology, biomarkers, and advanced imaging to improve early detection and staging. We'll discuss overcoming diagnostic delays and correctly classifying tumors to guide initial management.

Part 2

Patient Case 1 – Early Diagnosis Dilemma in GEP-NETs

A patient case exploring delayed diagnosis in GEP-NETs, emphasizing differential diagnosis, initial workup, and communication with PCPs.

Patient Case 2 – Sequencing Therapy in Advanced Midgut NETs

A patient case examining sequencing options in advanced, high-burden GEP-NETs after SSA progression

Your action plan in neuroendocrine tumors

Considering the information reviewed and discussed during this program, please share an action plan that you will implement to improve the diagnosis and management for your patients with NETs.

Live Group Discussion 2

Master advanced GEP-NET therapy. We'll review pivotal trial results, including NETTER-2 and CABINET, and discuss how this evidence informs treatment sequencing. Through complex cases, we will explore strategies for managing side effects to preserve patient quality of life.
