Younghoon Kwon

University of Washington
Associate Professor

I am a clinician investigator in cardiovascular, sleep, and critical care medicine with formal clinical training in all three fields. I am also a board-certified neurocritical care intensivist. This background provides me with unique insights into the understanding of the interdisciplinary field and equips me with the ability to generate clinically important research questions. I have a Master’s in Science degree in Clinical Research with a strong emphasis on epidemiology and statistical methods. In addition, I have diverse hands-on research experience, from animal lab-based experimental research to population-based epidemiological studies. I have extensive clinical experience in patients with sleep disorders, cardiovascular disease, and critical illness. This project requires close collaboration between engineering and clinical disciplines. I have a long track record of successful multidisciplinary collaboration with engineering. I strive to do my part to improve healthcare disparity through innovative diagnostic methods, alternative therapies, and fiscally responsible delivery of care at a population level. As a practicing physician, I am constantly driven to explore ways to improve the lives of people and patients under my care. I regularly volunteer at a local community health clinic. I am actively exploring innovation to advance how we better identify, prevent, and treat cardiovascular and sleep disorders to improve the health of human beings. I have published more than 130 peer-reviewed journal articles.
