AGNP

I have been a nurse since 1995. I received my bachelor's degree in 1997. I moved to the Hudson Valley in 1999 when I got married. I decided to obtain a master's degree in 2004 to give me greater opportunities to expand my career in nursing. I became a mother that 9 months prior to graduation and spent 14 years raising my children. I did not want to continue to do bedside nursing however, loved to work 1:1 with patients and decided to be an NP. My first job as an NP was in the primary care setting. I loved providing education to my patients; however, I did not enjoy Primary care as much as I thought I would. An opportunity became available for me to continue primary care NP with a different organization or to join a Neurology group. After much thought, I decided to accept to venture in the world of neurology. Working as a primary care NP for almost 2 years gave me the foundation needed to grow as a neurology NP. I have learned so much in this new role and it is rewarding being able to help patients as they deal with their challenging neurological issues. Presently, I am hoping to learn more about patients with Multiple Sclerosis and how to help them decrease relapsing episodes and live productive lives.
