Description: This curriculum provides practical guidance on the diagnosis and management of eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), a chronic, immune-mediated disease of the esophagus with rising prevalence. Learners will engage with current diagnostic algorithms, examine treatment options including dietary therapy, topical corticosteroids, and biologics, and explore strategies to meet payer documentation requirements for timely access to care. Designed for gastroenterologists, allergists, and other clinicians involved in the care of patients with EoE, the program emphasizes accurate diagnosis, coordinated multidisciplinary care, and personalized, evidence-based treatment planning.

Vandana Patel

Carolina Asthma and Allergy Center
MD

I have been in private practice allergy for 25 years and specifically in Charlotte, NC for the last 16 of those years. I love patient care, teaching and learning. My areas of interest within the field of allergy and clinical immunology are rhinosinusitis, asthma, eosinophilic esophagitis and food allergy. I work in a large group practice and take a special interest in our food therapeutics division which include our food challenge, OIT and SLIT programs. I have been voted to Charlotte TOP DOCS every year since 2012 onwards and have been the very honored recipient of Elliott White Pediatric Residency Teaching Award during my time here. I am a fellow of the American Academy of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology and a fellow the American College as well.
My other passion is my family. I have 3 children, ages 22, 18 and 18. I stand strong with other women physicians who work tirelessly to make sure we make a difference for our patients and our families, every day.
At the end of my career, I hope that my greatest accomplishments are not things that one could place on a CV. I hope my accomplishments are the successes of people I have had the honor to mentor and raise.
